Lucky Henry Sessions

After months of on-again, off-again tracking, the Lucky Henry sessions are just about complete.

This new fusion record pays homage to our influences like Jaco Pastorius, Jeff Beck, Steve Morse, Billy Cobham, Joe Zawanul and Miles Davis just to name a few.

Like Frank Zappa said, "Jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny".

I have been working hard to get this project and my acoustic record finished before beginning on the next Sounding Rick record with my good friend (and musical guru) Kasim Sulton in August.

The 411 is N-3.2 is Great!

Grandmaster PW1 says he loves the new upgrade to Nuendo 3.2.

Engineer extraordinaire Paul Williams finally figured out the bugs we had in our upgraded studio software so now we are back on track.

Here he takes a break from autotuning (a function that makes even out of tune singers sound good...sort of). I don't know exactly what the hand gestures mean. Maybe Mo-Better!

And because Paul is from the great state of New York, he agreed to wear the Yankee hat for the photo (I think he's a braves fan anyway).

So, why am I telling you all this? Because, as the acoustic project nears completion, we wanted you to know what goes on behind the scenes...LOL!

Studio Work
I am spending a bunch of time in the studio these next two weeks working on three different projects. Donnie Morgan and Greg Roth were in the other night laying rhythm tracks on a few new songs for our upcoming Lucky Henry album. There is no title yet but I can tell you that it is very cool jazz with a fusion edge.
Vocalist Brittany Hale comes in to cut a lead vocal on a song I wrote for her this week and I am about 50% finished with my acoustic/unplugged record. No title is set yet but it should be fun. The songs run from funky acoustic to spiritual to jazz influenced pop. Are you confused yet? I am..LOL!
OK Rick, where are the headphones?
Greg contemplates taking his bee pollen
with that drink he brought in from Arby's?
